The latest in the Kiwi Armour series covers the role of the New Zealand armoured forces in keeping the peace around the world from 1945 to the present day. A brief introduction of the historical context of the New Zealand role in peace keeping is followed by a separate chapters on each engagement. K-Force in Korea, The Malayan Emergency, Rhodesia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and East Timor are all covered. Each chapter is made up of an outline of the conflict, which forces were sent to keep the peace, photographs of the vehicles and some very interesting reminiscences of veterans who served there.
At the end of the book is a section on modelling the NZ armour, listing the kits available, and also a series of 1/35th scale drawings. These include the Local Pattern Wheeled Carrier Mk II, Daimler Scout Car MkII, and two REME modified Dingos in Malaya, one with armoured roof, the other with a turret. The last drawing is of an M113A1 with EAAK armour kit.
An excellent book which provides modellers with a host of unusual finishes for their models.
NB:Information on this subject and other NZ armour can be seen at http://www.kiwisinarmour.hobbyvista.com and is where you can order the book directly for $30NZ. No doubt the book is carried by many booksellers in the UK.
