I think this 54mm figure must rate as one of the very finest I have ever seen. Roger Saunders is renowned for the quality of his figure sculpting - but this is particularly nice. The brigadier is cast - in one piece - in white metal. The only additional components are his holster and regimental stick. All three castings are crisp and very clean and are free, almost entirely, of any mould lines or flash.
What I like best about this figure is its poise. The character is very well balanced - as you would expect of any figure from Roger Saunders - but it somehow manages to convey an air of dignified importance quite unlike any other! Perhaps it's the brigadier's moustache or his steely gaze, or is it just the fact that I feel he's about to do an impersonation of General Melchet and shout "bah" at the top of his voice!
Either way, this is a great figure. The sculpting is neat, understated and yet snares that so important spark of realism that so many other designers fail to capture.
