At the time of writing this review there are 130 different AFV kits available from MMS Models. Much of the range features German, British and American hardware. It wasn't until fairly recently that the first Soviet armour began to appear.
At first glance the MMS T-34/85 appears to be a relatively simple model. The hull is cast one piece as are the wheel/track assemblies. The turret is formed from two halves which sandwich together at the same points as the prototype, following the weld line around the distinctive profile of the armour.
After some light cleaning and preparation work, the main components can be assembled in a matter of minutes. This, however, does not tell the full story. As with all models from MMS, the T-34 is highly accurate. The main hull is covered in fine (but very distinct) detail. The modelling around the engine covers, including the ventilation grills and hinges, is particularly impressive.
The kit comes complete with a small bag of additional components, including everything from a bow-mounted machine gun to the familiar external fuel tanks. Once assembled you are presented with an attractive, faithful and above all accurate 1:76th scale depiction of the T-34/85 tank. What more can you ask?
