For those occasions where material removal is needed and needle files just don't fit the bill, emery cloth may be the solution.




Emery is a coarse rock of corundum and magnetite or haematite used for polishing metal & hard materials. Bonded onto a flexible cloth strip it's ideal for removing flash in contours on models & castings and for smoothing filler

Available on a roll (~3m) from hardware shops, fine and medium grades are the most useful. Emery strip is stronger than glasspaper or 'wet&dry' since the backing material is cloth rather than paper so it doesn't tear.
