Scalpel

2003-9-25

Fine precision cutting is best done using a scalpel. Originally conceived for a surgeon to be able to hold like a pen, the scalpel now finds wider use in art, craft and of course modelling.

Replacable surgical blades available in a wide selection of shapes makes the scalpel one of the most versatile tools in the box.

Whether it's trimming plastic mouldings, shaving white metal, scoring plasticard or any of 101 other uses a scalpel should always be on hand!

Caution: Knives are obviously sharp, so sensible precautions should be observed when using them. Always cut away from yourself, preferably onto a cutting mat or non-slip bench surface. Don't press too hard, let the knife cut & don't force it. Use the appropriate size for the job - scalpel for fine detail, craft knife for larger cuts.
