Craft Knife

Craft knives come in so many different permutations that there is something to suit everyone! One thing they all have in common is that they are an essential tool in the model makers tool box.

The set shown in the picture was found in a 'bargain bin' at the local DIY shop for about £4! A retractable scalpel and two sizes of retractable 'snap off' blades plus spares covers just about all that's needed for the enthusiastic modeller.

Other craft knives commonly available are fixed blade, retractable blade and disposable single use packs.

See the tools section of the LINKS page to visit Swann-Morton and browse their impressive range of craft-knives for more examples.

Caution: Knives are obviously sharp, so sensible precautions should be observed when using them. Always cut away from yourself, preferably onto a cutting mat or non-slip bench surface. Don't press too hard, let the knife cut & don't force it. Use the appropriate size for the job - scalpel for fine detail, craft knife for larger cuts.
