Epoxy Putty

Epoxy putty is one of those materials that has so many uses it's hard to imagine being without it. Repairing, converting or even scratch building and sculpting, most modellers will find putty very useful at some time.

Epoxy putty is available in many forms and various products have been formulated to have different properties. Originally developed for the plumbing and engineering trades, epoxy putty is now specifically formulated for modelling - two common varieties are shown.
All epoxy putties consist of two components, the putty and a hardener.

Once a closely guarded secret of professional miniature sculting types, kneadatite or 'green stuff' to give it it's nick-name is now available to the masses. Produced by Polymeric Systems Inc., kneadatite is used to sculpt whole miniatures over a wire armature as well as for fine detailing. Kneadatite retains flexibility even when fully cured, an advantage when making moulds from a master.

Milliput is available in four varieties, the 'standard' beige being the most common. Milliput becomes hard and brittle but can be sanded, carved and even carefully machined when cured. Manipulated with a moistened clay shaper it fills joints very effectively because it doesn't shrink or crack as it cures. Milliput can also be mixed with a little water to make it softer.
