A simple steel rule has many uses, not least measuring!







Steel rules are commonly available in a range of sizes, 150mm and 300mm are probably the most useful for model makers.

Apart form measuring and marking out, steel rules are essential for scoring sheet materials with a craft knife or scalpel.

Wooden or pastic rulers are not suitable because they can be damaged by the knife blade. Another note about steel rules - the graduation marks start at the edge of the rule, unlike plastic ones that have an un-graduated 'border' at each end, useful for measuring out from corners.
